Returns & Exchanges
At The Story Grove, we want you to be 100% satisfied with your order. Returns can be requested within 14 days of your delivery date for online orders or 14 days of purchase for market purchases.
Condition Requirements
All returned items must be in unused, sellable condition, with all original tags and labels attached.
Books are only eligible for return if they are:
- Unread (no cracked spines, bent pages, or visible reading wear)
- Unmarked (no highlighting, underlining, or notes)
- In original condition suitable for resale
- Free from odors (smoke, perfume, etc.)
For Story Boxes: All original items must be included in the return.
What Can Be Returned
- Story Boxes: May be returned for exchange, refund, or store credit
- Wrapped Reads: May be exchanged for another title only (no refunds). When exchanging, you’ll receive a different book selection. Additional items included with Wrapped Reads are not eligible for exchange or return.
Return Process
- Email support@thestorygroveco.com with your order number and reason for return
- Include photos if item is damaged or defective
- Receive return authorization and shipping instructions via email (typically within 2 business days)
- Ship your return within 7 days of receiving authorization using a trackable method
Return Shipping Costs
- Standard returns: You’re responsible for return shipping costs, or you may request a prepaid label (shipping cost will be deducted from your refund)
- Store credit option: Choose store credit and we’ll provide a FREE return label! Store credit never expires and can be used online or at markets.
- Damaged/defective items: We’ll provide a free prepaid return label
Refunds & Exchanges
After receiving your return and inspecting the condition, we’ll process your exchange or refund within 5 business days. Refunds are issued to your original payment method and may take 1-2 billing cycles to appear, depending on your credit card company. You’ll receive an email confirmation when your return is processed.
No restocking fees are charged on approved returns.
We reserve the right to refuse returns or issue partial refunds for items showing signs of use beyond normal inspection.
Holiday Returns
Gift-giving is at the heart of The Story Grove! All purchases made between November 1st and December 31st may be returned through January 31st of the following year. Order number or receipt required.
Market Purchases
All market purchases are covered by our return policy. Returns require proof of purchase and may be processed via mail (customer pays return shipping unless store credit is selected) or in person at one of our upcoming markets.
Gift Recipients
Received a gift? Please have the original purchaser forward their order confirmation to serve as your receipt for exchanges or returns.
Damaged or Defective Items
If your order arrives damaged or with defective items, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with photos. We’ll provide a prepaid return label and send a replacement, store credit, or issue a full refund—your choice!
Items Not Eligible for Return
- Items showing wear, damage, or use beyond normal inspection
- Items returned without prior authorization
- Returns initiated after the 14-day return window (or January 31st for holiday purchases)
